Alessia's research focuses on the mechanisms of stent restenosis in diabetic patients.

Research Project Area:

My project focuses on the mechanisms of in stent restenosis in diabetic patients. The zucker fatty rat is an ideal model: it shows exaggerate hyperplasic response after stent placement. The aim is to find some targets that can improve the re-endothelialisation of the implant and maintain the anti-proliferative effect of the drug eluting stents on the SMC population: we hope to reduce the late thrombotic events that often affect the diabetic population undergoing the stenting procedure.
