I am responsible for developing, implementing and documenting systems for GMP production and supporting functions such as environmental monitoring.
I am currently working on developing and optimising downstream purification strategies to purify adenoviral vectors under GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice).
I am investigating the use of novel separation technologies such as monolithic HPLC supports as well as the more conventional anion exchange and gel filtration processes.
Because these products will be used in Phase I and II clinical trials, there is a strong emphasis on process validation to ensure reproducible batch production.

Outside of work, I like to spend my time outdoors and love the wilderness. I’ve just returned from a camping trip in the stunning Scottish highlands around Aviemore where we spent a few days exploring the hills. I even tried a spot of mountain boarding which involves strapping an off-road skateboard to your feet and pointing it downhill – it’s a lot of fun but not too kind to the knees and elbows!
I do a lot of cycling around Connemara and try to hit the new mountain bike trails in Derroura Forrest every weekend. I also took part in a couple of triathlons in the last couple of years which were great, despite the typical Irish weather.
I am exited about my recent acquisition of a new camera so that I can revive my interest in photography.
